About The Author...
The Starshine Sea books are written by me, Kelly Beck.
My family and I live outside of our Arizona home town on five acres of land, and because of it, we can see millions of stars at night. I have always enjoyed looking at the stars, from watching them with my grandpa and father, to studying them with my sister. Now, when I look at the stars, I see the places and people from my stories as well.

I was home schooled all the way from kindergarten through high school. My sister was home schooled as well, and is now a teacher in the public school system. For me, home education was perfect and cultivated my imagination and thirst for knowledge perfectly. Being energetic as a child, sometimes to the point of being manically so, I found sitting in one place for a long period very difficult. After fifteen minutes of desk work, I was allowed to run around wild on our five acres for five minutes and then return. During these wild tromps, I imagined many things and was able to incorporate them into my studies and stories. The foundations of all of my stories were laid down in the Arizona desert, be it the ground or the sky.

Besides being a writer, there are many things that I enjoy. I am a flutist, amateur potter, hopeful historian, science geek, and artist. If there was anything that I wanted any readers or potential readers to know about who I am, it would be that I am silly and mischievous. When listening to Celtic music...or Keith Urban...I dance around like a nut. Now, for this to look right in your imagination, you must know that I can't dance well. I believe the best description for the way I look is 'a dying chicken'. As I travel through my day, there is a part of me that wants to rule; this aspect of my personality has been named 'Mischief' by me. Everywhere I go, Mischief sees opportunities to cause trouble and laugh...hence the Starshine Sea character Orion.

Many of my characters are like me. I admit to this whole heartedly, but I'm not claiming to be as wise as Ursa, as courageous as Aer, or as fearless as Orion. I am, however, claiming to be as much of a book worm as Ursa, as fond of making up spontaneous wild stories as Aer, and as much trouble as Orion.
You must have nothing better to do.
My favorite color is silver, and chocolate rules the world.
